New Students - FAQ

We get lots of questions from new students about PE, so we thought some answers to the most common questions would be helpful to our new students and their families.

Q: How many lessons of PE will I have?

A: You will have two lessons of PE per week in Year 7 and 8. Here at Arthur Terry we have a two-week timetable, meaning four lessons of PE every two weeks!

Q: How will I be rewarded if I do well in PE?

A: We love nothing more than to see students succeeding in PE! If you do well in PE you will earn praise points from your teachers. You could also be recommended to represent the school in one of it's very successful teams!

Q: What activities am I going to do in PE?

A: At Key Stage 3 you will experience a whole range of activities over the course of the year. We look to give our students an experience of lots of different sports. Activities in year 7 include Netball, Basketball, Football, Rugby, Tennis, Cricket, Badminton, Table Tennis, Athletics, Ultimate Frisbee, Gymnastics, Handball and many more!

Q: What after school activities can I take part in?

A: There are lots of activities going on over the course of the year. The best place to find these is using the link below! This will show you the most up-to-date activities (Note: this can be found on the main Arthur Terry School Website).

Q: What kit do I need?

A: In the Arthur Terry PE department we expect all of our students to arrive well prepared for lessons. Details of the kit you need will be included in the information you receive before September. Kit is available from Clive Marks, Mere Green (website link below).

Q: What happens if i'm injured or ill and can't take part in PE?

A: This is no problem at all. What we do ask from our students is that you bring a note from home briefly outlining the reason you cannot take part. We also request that you bring your kit with you as may be able to help in the lesson as a referee / coach / analyst.
